Volunteer to Care for Otters and Birds

Information meeting on Tuesday, May 6
(4 p.m.-6 p.m.)

Become an Aquarium volunteer and help us care for and feed freshwater otters, shorebirds or penguins. You must be at least 18 years old and commit to one year of service. More than 900 folks from the Monterey area volunteer their time to the aquarium. They share their time, their love for the sea and their dedication to the conservation of the natural world.

Volunteers guide visitors through our exhibits, staff our Information Desk, and work behind the scenes in husbandry operations, marketing, visitor programs and other areas. Whether you are a professional or a homemaker, retired or work full-time, a teacher or a student, the aquarium needs your skills and talents.

If you speak a second language, you can help us share the wonders of a world-class aquarium with visitors from around the world. We have a special need for volunteers who can help us serve our many Spanish-, French-, German-, and Japanese-speaking visitors.

Flexible hours

Anyone 18 years or older may volunteer on weekdays or weekends. Most volunteer positions ask for a commitment of one year, working one shift of four hours each week.
