"This project has everything, all types of conditions. You've got men working down in 65-foot holes setting casing, carpenters, steelworkers, concrete, dozers and cranes, guy hanging off scaffolding or over the ocean and even divers drilling under water. ... It can be dangerous, but it sure does make it fun."
Construction Crew Worker
Fall 1982With foundation work complete, the Aquarium building is rising fast. The precast concrete deck is laid, extending the building over the water. With the entire first level in place, construction begins on the second floor. In the center of the building, Kelp Forest and Monterey Bay Habitats exhibit walls disappear as the building rises around them. Construction of the seawater system is underway.
