The 29 MPAs cover over 200 miles.Areas such as Soquel Canyon, Point Sur, and Piedras Blancas are now safe havens for fish and other marine life to thrive. MPAs are sections of the ocean set aside for protection, conserving biological diversity, providing a sanctuary for sea life, recreation, education and to help rebuild depleted fisheries.
