The Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Aquarium's Seafood Watch program and scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute contributed to Oceans in Google Earth, part of the popular Google Earth program. The feature lets you dive into the ocean, explore marine habitats and make ocean-friendly seafood choices.
Oceans in Google Earth provides detailed sea floor terrain of Monterey Bay and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Much like the terrestrial icons seen on Google Earth, the ocean has its own icons that users can click in order to explore—through text, images and video—the hidden undersea world. Want to try it? Launch the application and use the side navigation to go to: Layers > Ocean > State of the Ocean, and ensure the box marked "Seafood Watch" is checked. Visit Google Earth to learn more |
