Aquarium Channels its Way to Kids at Packard Children's Hospital
MARCH 2009The Aquarium launches a "live" video channel at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California. The hospital is known for its kid-friendly environment, and through the popular PackardVision TV system, patients and families now tune to hospital Channel 44 for a fascinating and revealing look at Monterey Bay ocean life, as presented by the Aquarium through its penguin cam, kelp cam, Aquarium guides and divers.
The channel offers live and taped video around the clock. The highlights of each day's broadcasts are usually at feeding time. That's when kids can watch Aquarium staff feed the penguins on the penguin cam or watch divers feed the fish, sharks and other sea creatures through the kelp cam. Kids at the hospital can also listen to Aquarium educators discuss these lush and fascinating habitats.
