Explore Our History2010![]() A Rescued Pup Joins Our Sea Otter ExhibitFEBRUARY 2010
A young sea otter rescued in Morro Bay goes on exhibit with her nine-year-old companion, Mae. Just 11-weeks old, "Kit" is the youngest sea otter in the Monterey Bay Aquarium's history to go on exhibit. Thousands of visitors enjoy watching the pair eat, sleep and play.
Kit thrives on exhibit, quickly going from 15 to more than 20 pounds. In April, she goes off exhibit to be with other otters behind the scenes and to learn some new otter skills. As part of the normal rotation of the Aquarium's five permanent otters, she'll be making regular appearances in our two-story exhibit.
