By 1986 there are nearly 100,000 Aquarium members, leading to an expansion in the number and variety of member programs and activities.
Member Programs Expand

The Aquarium begins an extensive program of lectures, field trips and workshops for members. Field trips include dune walks, tide pool trips, and exploration of wildlife areas such as the mouth of the Salinas River and the Elkhorn Slough. The program quickly adds kayaking and camping expeditions, snorkeling lessons, and themed member nights in the Aquarium.
