Whale of a Fest

January 1988
Whalefest, the first special exhibition at the Aquarium, opens for a five-month recognition of the great whales that visit the Monterey Bay. The cetacean celebration takes up 9,000 square feet of exhibit space in five different areas of the Aquarium. It featured a whaling boat replica, a migration game, a whale video theater, a whale food display, and a "Singing Whale" presentation in the theater, where visitors hear whale songs, clicks, squeaks, chortles and grunts.
