This special exhibit explores solutions to problems facing all fisheries worldwide.
Fishing for Solutions
March 1997Using global shrimp fisheries to examine broader questions, this special exhibit highlights threats to global fisheries and ocean ecosystemsnamely overfishing, bycatch and coastal habitat destruction and the rapid growth of the human population. On a positive note, each problem is matched with a solution to illustrate that well-managed fisheries and successful aquaculture projects do exist. In 1998, the exhibit wins the inaugural Munson Aquatic Conservation Exhibitry award from the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
