A rescued sea otter suffering from grand mal seizures undergoes a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. The hospital donates its services. The first MRI test ever done on a sea otter, the scan is used to pinpoint damaged areas in the otter's brain that could be causing the seizures. Although no damaged areas are found, the test shows that MRI can be a useful diagnostic tool for sea otters. |
