Explore Our History2003![]() The entry project will place a glass roof over the historic boilers, move ticketing indoors and open up the lobby. Entering a New EraSeptember 2003
As the Aquarium looks forward to its 20th anniversary in 2004, construction begins on a dramatic new entrance. Ticket lines will be moved indoors, and the courtyard around the Hovden Cannery boilers will become an atrium beneath a vaulted glass roof. It will contain an interpretive exhibit about the historic site on which the Aquarium now stands. An overhead walkway will link second-floor galleries. The new entrance will open to the public in May 2004. Part of the new entry project includes an overhead bridge connecting the second floor of the Nearshore Galleries with the Outer Bay, which will greatly improve the flow of visitors along our "Main Street." |
