Watch the hustle and bustle of a coral reef community.
Try to keep up with a bevy of busy tropical fishes as they traverse the corals in our special exhibition, ¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge.
This colorful neighborhood is home to many species of tropical fish, including the Cortez wrasse, scrawled filefish and Cortez angelfish. In the wild, coral reefs are among the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. Healthy reefs protect nearby shorelines and wetlands, and are home to thousands of species of fishes and corals.
The lookdown befuddles predators with the help of scales that reflect polarized light and help the fish blend into the background. See a school of these slender fish swimming together in our newest special exhibition, ¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge.
We're successfully breeding Pacific seahorses for the first time! Behind the scenes of our ¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge special exhibition, our expert aquarists are hard at work culturing these baby seahorses. The story of how they're doing it is as fascinating as these fantastic fish themselves.
