Meet our otters!

We feed our otters four times a day, often putting the food in toys to stimulate the otters’ natural behavior of pounding and working to get food out of shells. Our aquarists also teach the otters behaviors, like holding a target with their paws, or walking onto a scale or into a kennel. Training keeps our otters mentally and physically stimulated; it also makes working with the otters safer for us and less stressful for them.

You can watch our Sea Otter Feeding and Training Sessions online three times a day. Preview the showVideo

Sea Otter Pup on Exhibit

Sea Otter Pup on Exhibit

An eight-week old rescued pup has joined the sea otter exhibit. He came into our care at two weeks of age weighing barely six pounds, and is now a hefty 15 pounds—the result of a very healthy appetite! He's currently under the tutelage of Joy, who will teach him what a young otter needs to know. Be sure to come see him when you visit or watch him on our live Otter Cam. We'll also post updates and images on our Facebook page. As in the past, we may move him behind the scenes with little notice if that's in his best interests, so be sure to check if you’re planning a special trip.

Help Save Sea Otters Like Kit!

As the only rehabilitation center for California's sick, injured or stranded sea otters, we've provided expert care to more than 500 animals just like Kit, the stranded pup that recently went on exhibit with her companion, Mae. To continue this important work, we need your help. Our programs are funded by contributions from people like you who care about the oceans. Your fully tax-deductible gift will help us ensure that sea otters, and all ocean wildlife, thrive for future generations.
