Learning Activities

We offer a variety of educational activities (hands-on, music, printable and/or web based) for educators, families, students and anyone interested in teaching or learning about ocean life. Many of the "at the aquarium" activities can be done online using the content of our web site and live web cams.

Teaching Units

These themed standards-based teaching units have been developed for our school field trip programs to help you offer an aquarium-centered ocean unit to your students. Sea Searchers Handbook

Published by the Monterey Bay Aquarium in 1996, this book provides a treasure of activities, from art to science and from math to language arts. You'll explore rocky shores, wetlands, sandy shores, kelp forests, the open sea and the deep sea and enjoy over 90 hands-on activities. (PDF
