All Aboard the Free WAVE Visitor Trolley!

May 25–Labor Day:
10 a.m.–8 p.m.

This summer enjoy a fast, fun and free ride to the Aquarium aboard the Victorian-style MST Trolley. It runs daily and stops at the Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and several downtown Monterey spots for shopping and dining.

Our Sea Otter Exhibit is Now Open!

Come watch our otters romp, wrestle and play, just like their brethren in the bay! You'll see some familiar faces, and perhaps an otter or two you've never met before!

Peacock Mantis Shrimp—He's Baaaaack!

Tiny, deadly and gorgeous. That's the peacock mantis shrimp, and we just placed one on exhibit in our Splash Zone galleries. This is the first time we've hosted a mantis shrimp since 2001, when one earned us national headlines!

A Flower in the Ocean

Did you know that we sometimes collect beautiful specimens for exhibit right near the Aquarium? A flower-like feather duster worm was recently added to the barnacle exhibit, from the nearby Coast Guard Pier!

Taking Flight in the Open Sea

Is it possible to “fly” underwater? Visitors tell us that graceful pelagic rays are among their favorite animals at the Aquarium, and we just added two to our Open Sea exhibit!

Snowy Plover Season

Our snowy plover eggs are hatching behind the scenes! Each year from March through September, birds in distress and eggs that have been abandoned are brought to the Aquarium, one of the main rehabilitation sites for shorebirds in northern California.
