Get to know amazing birds at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Feathered Friends" event November 19–20. The weekend of activities highlights animals with beaks, wings and feathers—including the Aquarium's blackfooted penguinsAnimal Guide, Laysan albatross and shorebirds from our aviary.

Special shows and activities include:

  • Meet the penguin: Watch one of our blackfooted penguins walk down the red carpet, and meet our penguinologists, who'll answer questions about these cool birds. One lucky guest will get an up-close-and-personal encounter.
  • Meet Makana: Visit with our rare Laysan albatross, Makana, and learn about Pacific seabirds and how you can help them.
  • Family craft room: Create a unique keepsake with your kids.
  • Wildlife Associates Program: In this special presentation, you'll meet some rescued birds—a golden eagle and white-tailed kite. Learn about the unique features of these amazing birds.

Special Feathered Friends Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Get an insider's look at how we care for some of our 6,000 animals behind the scenes. During Feathered Friends, our tours include new experiences about the birds that live at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
  • Cost is $12 per person plus admission for the general public and $10 per person for Aquarium members.
