Zebra Moray Eel

The zebra moray eel’s menacing mouth constantly opens and closes. But don’t worry, it’s not threatening to bite—that’s just how it breathes.

Zebra morays, which can reach five feet in length, are actually quite shy, and rarely appear during the day. At night, they come out their holes and crevices to seek hard-shelled prey like crustaceans, crabs and molluscs. Their flat, platelike teeth are perfect for crunching these tough meals.
