Dry Creek Kitchen
Healdsburg, CA

A native of Sonoma County, Lisa Kaufman's role as pastry chef at Dry Creek Kitchen provides her with a tactile, tangible relationship with the ingredients in and around the Sonoma area. Growing up in Santa Rosa, Lisa was raised with a deep appreciation for everything outdoors, in a way only possible in northern California. Whether it was playing rugby or gardening, she's always cherished the bucolic surroundings of Sonoma County.

After graduating from Santa Rosa Junior College with a degree in culinary arts, she worked as a pantry cook at Iron Stone, a new American restaurant in her hometown of Santa Rosa. Later that year, the restaurant's pastry chef quit and Lisa found herself taking over all of the baking production and plating, giving her the practical experience she needed to realize that the pastry arts were her true passion.

Lisa's next move brought her to Chef Charlie Palmer's Dry Creek Kitchen as a pastry cook under then pastry chef, Andrew DiClementi. The renowned Healdsburg restaurant has long been known for developing culinary talents as well as its intimate relationships with northern California farmers, ranchers and artisanal producers. It also provided her with more hands-on training with her "chemistry sets," as she fondly refers to the tools of the baking trade. When Chef Andrew left Dry Creek Kitchen to help Chef Charlie open Harvest Table in early 2015, Lisa was perfectly positioned to become the restaurant's new pastry chef.
