Christine Daugherty, PhD is Vice President of Sustainable Food Production at Tyson Foods. She leads the company's commitment to proper farm animal treatment, including oversight of the Tyson FarmCheck™ program, which involves third-party, on-farm animal well-being audits, working with an external Animal Well-Being Advisory Panel and commitment to additional research. Christine is also responsible for Tyson Foods' sustainability programs across multiple platforms, ensuring sound business and reporting practices throughout the enterprise, as well as seeking out new technologies and other methods that will continue to improve sustainable food production at all levels within the business. Christine joined the Tyson Foods Legal Department in 2003 where she provided counsel in the areas of animal welfare, research and development, intellectual property and food safety. She was promoted to the role of Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Development, where she worked to capture, protect and optimize innovative technologies and ideas. Christine later served as Chief Technology Officer for Cobb-Vantress, a poultry breeding company owned by Tyson Foods, and was appointed to her current role in 2015. Prior to joining Tyson Foods, Christine was a research scientist at the University of Florida, where her work became part of a Space Shuttle Columbia mission experiment, and was a private practice patent attorney. Christine serves on the U.S. Poultry Foundation Research Advisory Committee and the University of Arkansas Technology Development Foundation. She also is past chair of the Tyson Foods Women's Business Resource Group and has served as a mentor within the company's leadership program. Originally from Glenwood, Iowa, Christine received her bachelor’s degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and a master’s degree from Iowa State University. Christine continued her education at Louisiana State University, where she earned her Ph.D. in life sciences, and holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas.
