Speaker-A conversation with Tom Colicchio

Tom Colicchio is a chef, author, and owner of multiple award-winning restaurants, including Craft and Craftbar in New York and Los Angeles, and Craftsteak in Las Vegas. Since 2006, he has been the head judge on Bravo's Emmy-winning reality cooking series "Top Chef," which is currently in its 11th season. In January 2010, he opened Colicchio & Sons in New York, where he improvises with small-batch ingredients from the micro-producers and family farmers with whom he has forged decades-long relationships. In May 2010, Colicchio was awarded The James Beard Foundation's coveted "Outstanding Chef" award, the culmination of his 30 years of hard work in the restaurant industry. Tom appears in and served as executive producer on A Place at the Table, Participant Media's documentary about food insecurity in America, produced and directed by Kristi Jacobson and Colicchio's wife, Lori Silverbush, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Tom and his restaurants give back to the community by supporting charities including Children of Bellevue, City Harvest, Alex's Lemonade Foundation, United Way of New York, and Food Bank for New York City. He has also taken a leadership role in bringing chefs to Washington, DC in support of transformation of U.S. food policy.
