Global ocean conservation programs
Overview
Protecting ocean health while meeting the growing global demand for seafood is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The choices made in fishing villages, aquaculture farms, processing facilities, and markets around the world affect ocean health, climate resilience, and human livelihoods.
Our Global Ocean Conservation programs work across seafood-producing regions to improve environmental sustainability, protect human rights, and strengthen coastal communities.
We collaborate with local communities, governments, scientists, businesses, and financial institutions to drive large-scale, lasting change in seafood systems.
Our vision of sustainable seafood means it is sourced from fisheries and farms that are socially just, environmentally responsible, and economically viable.
We address global seafood sustainability through three integrated approaches, each with dedicated programs and tools.
How we create change
Improve production practices
We work directly with fisheries and aquaculture producers to reduce environmental impacts, improve management, and build long-term resilience.
Build practical tools for industry
Our science-based tools help businesses assess sustainability, monitor progress, and demonstrate improvements to markets and stakeholders.
Advance equity and systems change
To truly be sustainable, seafood production must work for both people and the environment. We address human rights, social equity, and climate risks embedded in seafood supply chains.
