Directions & instructions for bus drivers

To avoid congestion, bus drivers are asked not to drive on Cannery Row for more than one block. By ordinance of the City of Monterey, you must turn off your engine upon arrival and leave it off until you depart. The City of Monterey is issuing tickets for non-compliance with this city ordinance. No loading or unloading is permitted on David Avenue between Wave Street and Cannery Row or in any of the Aquarium’s loading zones.

Non-summer months

Drop guests off at the Aquarium

•  From Foam Street or Lighthouse Avenue, turn right on Prescott Avenue.
• Turn left on Cannery Row.
• The bus drop–off zone is on the right side of the street just before Hovden Way.

Pick up guests from the Aquarium

•  From the bus parking areas, buses should return to Prescott Avenue and proceed toward Cannery Row.
• Turn left on Cannery Row.
• The bus pick-up zone is on Cannery Row near Hovden Way.

When departing from Cannery Row, turn left onto David Avenue and proceed to Lighthouse Avenue for departure.

Summer

Drop guests off at the Aquarium

•  From Foam Street or Lighthouse Avenue, turn right on David Avenue toward the Aquarium.
• Cross Wave Street, then make a right into the bus turnaround.
• The bus drop–off zone is in the bus turnaround.
• Immediately after unloading passengers, turn left onto Cannery Row and up David Avenue.
• Turn left onto Wave Street.
• Turn right onto Irving Avenue.
• Turn right onto Foam Street.
• The bus parking zone is located on the right side of Foam Street and David Avenue.

Pick up guests from the Aquarium

•  From Foam Street or Lighthouse Avenue, turn right on David Avenue toward the Aquarium.
• When departing from Cannery Row, turn left onto David Avenue and proceed to Lighthouse Avenue for departure.

Bechtel Education Center

Drop students off at the Bechtel Education Center

• From Foam Street or Lighthouse Avenue, turn right on Prescott Avenue.
• Turn right on Cannery Row.
• The school bus drop-off zone is directly in front of the Bechtel Education Center.

After the students disembark, turn right from Cannery Row onto Hoffman Avenue and proceed to one of the bus parking areas on Foam Street, David Avenue or Prescott Avenue as indicated on the map.

Pick up students from the main Aquarium

• From the bus parking areas, busses should return to Prescott Avenue and proceed toward Cannery Row.
• Turn left on Cannery Row.
• The bus pick-up zone is on Cannery Row near Hovden Way and the Member Entrance.

When departing from Cannery Row, turn left onto David Avenue and proceed to Lighthouse Avenue for departure.

Note: Students walk from the Bechtel Center to the Aquarium. Teachers are responsible for their students as they travel between buildings. The Recreation Trail or sidewalks on either side of Cannery Row are options for travel to and from the Main Aquarium.
