"It wasn’t until I learned to scuba dive that I really felt like I got to know the ocean. I still remember my first dive, dropping in on a vibrant coral reef that had color and motion and life everywhere. The chance to see the underwater world up close forever changed my perspective of the ocean. What once seemed so immense and robust became so intimate and fragile. Now, we’ve come to realize just how fragile the ocean is and how important it is we take actions to protect it."
Brad Rutherford
Brad received a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in social change and development and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Northwestern University. He supported global rural development programs for Winrock International in Washington, D.C., and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Central African Republic.
