Natalia Hurley
Vice President of Education and Guest Experience
As the vice president of Guest Experience, Natalia Hurley provides leadership for the Aquarium’s visitor-facing programs, including admissions, interpretive programs, environmental services, and security and emergency management.
Natalia is originally from Monterey and is a first-generation American born to Brazilian parents. She grew up in a multicultural and multilingual home, visited the Aquarium as a child, and often traveled back to Brazil to visit family.
"I remember coming to the Aquarium as a kid. My dad worked here in the 90’s, and I always thought he was so cool because of it. It’s nostalgic for me to now work for this organization where my passion for nature and animals can be fulfilled in creating connections for our visitors, volunteers, and staff."

She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and international relations from San Francisco State University, and later earned her master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from Arizona State University. Natalia’s career at the Aquarium began in 2012, and over the years, she’s held various leadership roles throughout the guest experience teams. Natalia has served on the board of the Monterey County Hospitality Association (MCHA) and is currently on the advisory board for the sustainable hospitality management programs at California State University, Monterey Bay, where she’s also an adjunct lecturer in the College of Business.
"Connection and inclusivity for all is at the core of what drives me. Loving and caring for the ocean is for everyone, and I celebrate all the different walks of life and perspectives I have the privilege of working with. I want my kids to see themselves in the future of ocean stewardship, and connecting our visitors to our mission is integral to that work."
