Critter Concentration
- Print out two sets of critter cards. Color the cards and cut them out along the dotted lines.
- Spread all the cards out face down on a table.
- Mix them well and arrange them in rows.
- Taking turns, each player chooses two cards and turns them face up so that all the players can see them. If the cards match, the player may keep the cards and then take another turn. If the cards do not match, the player should turn the cards face down again. The next player can then take their turn.
- The player with the most matching pairs wins.
Critter "Go Fish"
- Print several copies of the critter cards. Color the cards and cut them out along the dotted lines.
- Use the cut-up cards to play Critter "Go Fish."
Guess Who
- Print out two sets of critter cards. Color the cards and cut them out along the dotted lines.
- Spread all the cards out face down on a table.
- Mix them well.
- Taking turns, each player chooses a secret critter card from the stack. Have the other players ask "yes" and "no" questions to guess your animal. For example, do you live in a shell? Do you have legs?
Make your own critter card field guide
- Draw or paint your own critter cards (index cards work well). If you've already visited the Aquarium, draw animals that you saw there. Or use our Animals A to Z pages to find some of your favorite animals.
- Include some interesting facts about each animal on the card—look for information on our website, such as in our Animals A to Z pages.
- Punch a hole in the left hand corner of each critter card. Tie the cards together using either yarn or a key ring to make your own field guide.
- Bring these cards with you on your next visit to the Aquarium. Try to find all the animals in your field guide. If you have trouble finding an animal, be sure to ask one of our Aquarium Guides.
