Ann Marie Nemanich
Chief Financial Officer
Ann Marie Nemanich oversees all aspects of the Finance and Accounting operations of the Aquarium, as well as the Real Estate and Campus Management groups.
Ann Marie has extensive experience in an array of business settings, most recently serving for over a decade at The Nature Conservancy of California as director of finance and operations. Previously, she held positions as executive director of an arts and education nonprofit in the San Francisco Bay Area, chief finance officer of an international entertainment company, and director of financial planning and analysis for Lucasfilm. She was awarded the Irvine Leadership Award, taught accounting at UC Berkeley Extension, and studied social justice and ethics at the Jesuit Theological Union in Berkeley.
"As a Midwest girl, my first encounter with the ocean was a trip to Jacksonville, Florida, in fourth grade. It was a weekday, and we were totally alone on this vast beach—not a soul to be seen—but the beach was alive under my feet with an array of wonders. I spent hours watching little crab creatures scurry around in the surf and pop out of the sand, I screamed in delight (and fright) at the washed-up jellies, and I searched high and low for the most colorful and unique shells I could find. The sound, smell, and feel of that perfect glistening day still comes to me when I find myself barefoot on any beach I visit today."
