Help visitors from around the world discover and enjoy the wonders of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Duties and requirements

  • A welcoming, calm, and responsible demeanor.
  • Must provide assistance, general information, and directions to guests.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in noisy and crowded environments.
  • A dedication to further learning about the Aquarium and the ocean.
  • The ability to walk from place to place on hard and uneven surfaces. 

Time commitment

  • Six months of regular volunteering is mandatory, with a four-hour shift per week or a five-hour shift every other weekend.
  • In addition to regular shifts, this position requires a day-long orientation, weekly updates, and periodic enrichments.
