Today, women represent less than 30 percent of researchers in science and technology fields.
At the Aquarium, we're committed to advancing women and girls in science. Our executive team is mostly women and sets the tone for gender equity across the organization. We have brilliant women scientists working throughout the Aquarium. And with programs like Young Women in Science, we're supporting girls and young women as they build skills in STEM and ocean conservation.
Gender inequity continues to be a problem in STEM. To solve society’s biggest challenges, we must actively open doors and work to end exclusionary practices to make the sciences welcoming for people of all genders.
At a time when society faces enormous global challenges, women and girls have so much to offer. We can’t afford to sideline half of humanity—especially now. Monterey Bay Aquarium is committed to making sure everyone has an opportunity to find their place in the sciences.
